Abstrart Game License (AGL)
Copyright © <YEAR> <AUTHOR(S)>
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the “Software”), to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, and redistribute the source code of the Software, subject to the following conditions:
Section 1 – Scope
- This License applies exclusively to the original source code and assets created by the Authors of this Software.
- Any use of third-party engines, libraries, or assets (including but not limited to Unreal Engine) is subject to their own licenses. This License does not grant any rights over such third-party components, which always take precedence.
Section 2 – Source Code Rights
-
Redistribution and modification of the source code are permitted, provided that:
- The original License remains unchanged and included in all copies.
- The original code covered by this License remains under this License.
- If the Software, or a derivative work, is publicly distributed, the modified source code must also be made available under this License.
-
Making source code “available” means either:
- providing direct public access (e.g., repository, website, or distribution package), or
- providing access on request under fair and non-discriminatory conditions defined by the distributor (e.g., minimum contribution requirements).
-
Clear attribution to the original Authors must be included in:
- the source code, or
- the credits of the distributed software, in a section dedicated to open-source components used.
Section 3 – Compiled Versions (Executables)
-
Compiled or packaged versions of the Software (including executables, binaries, or distribution builds) may be redistributed under the following conditions:
- Single-player games: executables may be modified and redistributed, provided that such modifications comply with Section 2.
- Multiplayer games: executables may only be redistributed in their original, unmodified form, to preserve game integrity and prevent cheating.
- Modification, reverse engineering, or redistribution of modified multiplayer executables is prohibited.
- Public distribution of binaries must be accompanied by equivalent access to the full modified source code, under this License.
Section 4 – Enforcement
- Failure to provide access to the source code when distributing executables constitutes a violation of this License.
- Any distribution that omits attribution as defined in Section 2 is also a violation of this License.
Section 5 – Warranty Disclaimer
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
Section 6 – Assets (Artistic Content)
- All artistic assets of the Software, including but not limited to graphics, textures, 3D models, animations, audio, music, and cinematics (collectively “Assets”), remain the exclusive property of the Authors and/or the Studio.
- Assets may not be extracted, reused, or redistributed in other projects without explicit written permission from the Studio or the respective asset creator(s).
- Distribution of the Software must include the Assets in their original form and exclusively for use within the Software.
